EZ Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs

I found the GREATEST way to make EZ peel hard-boiled eggs. And if, like me, you’ve struggled for YEARS to peel your eggs after boiling them, you’re going to love this.
✅ Short on time and need to skip the chit-chat? This is the absolute best way to make sure your eggshells slide right off EVERY time!
Easy Peeling Hard-Boiled Eggs
We eat a lot of hard-cooked eggs around here because we love them in salads, we love egg salad and tuna salad, and deviled eggs are a regular snack for us.
Growing up, the only option we had was boiling them {my mom didn’t bake them or steam them or anything like that.}
Our “secret” for easy peeling hard-boiled eggs was to salt the cooking water.
However, this was really hit-or-miss.
Sometimes the eggs DID peel easily and other times the shells would stick.
We just couldn’t figure out WHY they would stick some times and not others.
When to Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs
Another thing we tried was knowing when to peel hard-boiled eggs.
I heard that if you peeled them when they were still hot but just cool enough to handle, the shells would slide right off.
And this DID seem to work!
So for a very long time, I would boil the eggs in salted water and when done, put them in an ice-water bath to cool them quickly.
Then, when I could handle them, I’d peel them.
For the most part, this worked 90%-95% of the time. There were one-off eggs that had sticky shells but it didn’t happen often.
However, it was a TOTAL pain to do this.
I didn’t want to have to do an ice bath every time I boiled eggs. And I didn’t like hovering over them, waiting for them to be just cool enough to handle.
Nobody has time for that! 😁
The Easiest Way to Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs
But here’s the EASIEST way to peel hard-boiled eggs…
…use the right gadget that does all the work!
Fastest Way to Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs
I happened to pick up an egg cooker because I thought I’d give it a shot and see how it worked. Little did I know that it would be the best thing I did in a long time!
My little egg cooker cooks 7 eggs at a time.
Here’s how it works.
You use the little cup/egg poker to:
- fill the cooking tray with water
- poke holed in the top of your eggs
Then, you just push the “on” button.
The egg cooker heats up and the water boils off. When that happens, it shuts off automatically and “dings” to let you know the eggs are cooked.
The Best Way to Make Hard-Boiled Eggs Peel

I’m telling you, this is the BEST way to make hard-boiled eggs peel easily EVERY TIME!
At this point, I’ll either let them cool on their own OR I’ll put them in an ice bath to speed up the process {because I need deviled eggs, like, RIGHT NOW.}
I’ve also tried peeling at all different times – immediately, after cooling, days later…every time the shell just slides right off.
How to Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs Easily
Now that I know how to peel hard-boiled eggs easily, I won’t do it any other way.
Ever again.
In fact, I might upgrade my cooker to this 12-capacity egg cooker so I can hard-boil eggs a dozen at a time!
Tricks for Peeling Hard-Boiled Eggs
With the right tool, you don’t need any tricks for peeling hard-boiled eggs but if you’re still boiling eggs in a pot, here’s what I recommend:
- Salt the water before you boil and let the eggs cook in the salted water
- Peel your eggs as soon as they’re cool enough to handle but STILL HOT
Note: some people recommend adding white vinegar to your water but I’ve never done this, so can’t speak from experience.
EZ Peel Hard-Boiled Eggs in a Jiffy!
Now you know my super-duper tip for making ez peel hard-boiled eggs in a jiffy – it only takes about 15 minutes {give-or-take} to have cooked eggs that are ready to cool and peel.
If you do use an egg cooker, there’ll be a little pocket of air and when you crack the egg, it’s in this area that you can start to peel and the rest of the shell will slide right off. #Amazing!
So in just a few minutes, you can have eggs ready to go for deviled eggs, tuna or egg salad, or ready to add to your favorite garden salad.
Enjoy!
